Frequently asked questions

The practical details about ordering a CITTRA print.

What paper is it printed on?

You can choose between Premium Matte — 170 GSM and Archival Matte — 250 GSM. Both are matte and uncoated. Premium Matte has a smooth, non-reflective finish, while Archival Matte is heavier, acid-free and has a natural off-white tone.

When will my print arrive?

Each print is made after you order. Check the estimated delivery window on the product page for your location.

Can I return a print?

Yes. CITTRA offers 14-day returns. Please check the returns policy for the full conditions and instructions before sending anything back.

Will the print colours match my screen?

We aim to show each print accurately, but colours may vary slightly between screens and the finished print. Paper choice and display settings can also affect how colours appear.

About the print

The story behind this print

Manchester Central Library opened in 1934 and is one of the city centre’s most recognisable civic buildings. Architect E. Vincent Harris gave it an unusual circular form, with a columned exterior and domed reading room that deliberately recall classical architecture rather than the industrial brick buildings more commonly associated with Manchester.

The library sits beside St Peter’s Square, close to the Town Hall and the city’s tram network, so it functions as part of everyday Manchester rather than as an isolated monument. Generations of residents have used it to study, research, read newspapers and access public archives. That combination of monumental architecture and ordinary public use is what gives the building its character: grand enough to be a landmark, but built around the simple idea of a free city library.
